Did you know that you could laugh yourself well? Yes, laughter not only reduces levels of certain stress hormones, but can heal all other ailments of your body!
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones Proverbs 17:22
"...In doing this, laughter provides a safety valve that shuts off the flow of stress hormones and the fight-or-flight compounds that swing into action in our bodies when we experience stress, anger or hostility. These stress hormones suppress the immune system, increase the number of blood platelets (which can cause obstructions in arteries) and raise blood pressure. When we're laughing, natural killer cells that destroy tumors and viruses increase, as do Gamma-interferon (a disease-fighting protein), T-cells, which are a major part of the immune response, and B-cells, which make disease-destroying antibodies."
"What may surprise you even more is the fact that researchers estimate that laughing 100 times is equal to 10 minutes on the rowing machine or 15 minutes on an exercise bike. Laughing can be a total body workout! Blood pressure is lowered, and there is an increase in vascular blood flow and in oxygenation of the blood, which further assists healing. Laughter also gives your diaphragm and abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg and back muscles a workout. That's why you often feel exhausted after a long bout of laughter -- you've just had an aerobic workout!"
"People often store negative emotions, such as anger, sadness and fear, rather than expressing them. Laughter provides a way for these emotions to be harmlessly released. Laughter is cathartic. That's why some people who are upset or stressed out go to a funny movie or a comedy club, so they can laugh the negative emotions away (these negative emotions, when held inside, can cause biochemical changes that can affect our bodies)."

I knew laughter was good for us, but had no idea what goes on in our bodies when we do laugh. Isn't it amazing? Check this one out....

"...we read that laughter increases antibodies in the saliva combating respiratory infections, relaxes muscles throughout the body, helps reduce symptoms of neuralgia and rheumatism and helps move nutrients and oxygen to body tissue. We also learn that "Laughter "massages" internal organs. This can aid in digestion and improve the flow of blood throughout the body. When you laugh you get better blood flow to all your major organs, including your brain. You can think more clearly, be more creative and solve problems better."
"William, Fry, M.D., a Stanford University Medical School professor Emeritus, has studied the effects of laughter upon the human body. His findings: laughter gives the heart a workout, supplies the lungs with oxygen, stimulates the brain, activates the immune system and suppresses stress hormones."
"Laughter also gets rid of fatigue, burns calories and makes you feel good all over. So start laughing more and make other people laugh. It's good for your health and their's."
You see we'll live longer and have better health, my friend. No wonder the Lord recommended this simple remedy for our lives. I heard / read an amazing sermon about a man who was reported by a doctor that he had just only few months to live. What did he do? He had heard how laughter triggered healing properties, and decided to take upon the remedy by involving himself in funny movies, episodes, books, magazines, etc.. Of course, his healing didn't happen overnight, but eventually, doctors were astounded by his 'treatment' with amazing results.
As we all know, we mostly allow ourselves to be so "stressed" out rather than allowing ourselves to shut down awhile. At times like these, when we don't always feel like laughing, it's all that we can do to jump-start our body into motion of laughter, isn't it? This is why we need to find the funnies. I have also realized that our body / mind needs to pay attention to our spiritual diets. Spiritual diet is what we allow our body / mind to daily "feed" upon. Therefore, if we often dwell into "horror" books, movies or magazines, or the things of the gory department, then we're more than likely to become depressed, or often saddened, for example. Perhaps even to become a very angry person. If we "feed" our thoughts with happy and lively things, then our minds will have us smiling more often. If we feed our minds with gory and sad things, then we're likely to wear the frowns.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he Proverbs 23:7
So then, we need to change our thought pattern, and get a livier spirit, don't we? So we now have discovered a healing method, where laughter releases endorphins in the brain, a natural medication for both the body and mind. In other words, we have the simplest, no-cost, God-given method where our tensions are easily relieved.
Here are some tips to help us get those endorphins flowing:
And of course, don't forget to dwell in God's Word (The Holy Bible), for it provides nourishment to the body, mind and soul.
There you have it. Not only will we be stronger and healthier human beings, but much happier. We don't want our bones to dry, do we? Then let our hearts be merry. Laugh and laugh, and let the healing begin A guy approaches a counter in a telemarketer department and says, "I need a job." The manager behind the counter says, "My, this is your lucky day. But you must pass a test first. Come up with something in reference to these words: green, pink and yellow." The job-seeker thinks for a moment, and says, "Okay, I have it now." "Give me your answer then," the manager says. "Well it goes ... green ... green ... green ... and I pink it up and say, 'Yellow?' " "You get the job." the clerk says. ~ Jokes Galore
Upon sitting on a couch one day, two old ladies were watching a cat that sat motionless for hours in a hallway, peering at something. "Just what is that cat staring at?" Ellie finally asked. "Maybe she spotted a mouse," Sophie replied, knowing that her cat had caught a few. "No, I don't think so," Ellie said jokingly, "The cat is actually watching a soap opera, "Rats of Our Lives". Then she'll be watching, "All My Kittens" and "General Veterinarian" after that." ~ Jalyn Need extra income at this time? Contact me for free information.
